Taking place the evening before the main programme begins, this relaxed get-together offers early-career researchers the perfect chance to connect over food, drinks, and conversation in a welcoming London venue. Meet new faces, share ideas, and take part in a few light-hearted games to kick off the conference in style. Tickets for this event are available as an optional add-on to your conference registration, priced at £35 (including VAT).

Welcome Reception

Location: Senate House, London

The Welcome Reception will be held at the conference venue. Enjoy complimentary drinks and light bites with a local twist as you connect with fellow attendees in a relaxed setting. Food and drinks are included.

5K Fun Run

A high energy start to the day for runners at all levels. Have a glance at a few sights of London whilst enjoying your run. Starting line to be confirmed. All participants run at their own risk; this is a self-guided route.

Gala Dinner

Location: Bloomsbury Ballroom, London

The Gala Dinner will take place in the stunning surroundings of the Bloomsbury Ballroom, a beautifully restored Art Deco venue full of character and charm. Enjoy a carefully curated menu featuring modern British cuisine with a creative twist, all set against the backdrop of one of London’s most atmospheric venues. This event is included in your conference registration fee. You may also purchase an additional ticket for a guest at a cost of £120 (including VAT).

Walking Tour

Location: Entrance of Senate House

Discover Bloomsbury’s charm and Soho’s vibrance on a walk from the grand Senate House to the lively John Snow pub (named after the doctor who discovered how cholera was transmitted). Along the way, uncover tales of spies, literary greats, stunning squares, and the colourful – sometimes cheeky – history that shaped this part of London. Tickets for this event are available as an optional add-on to your conference registration, priced at £15 (including VAT).
